History

The Northwest Health Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization. The Foundation’s precursor, the Northern Peace Foundation, was registered with Revenue Canada in January 22, 1996. The Foundation actively fund raised until 2001; then experience a period of inactivity. It was revived during the fall of 2007 and renamed the Northwest Health Foundation.

Currently, the Northwest Health Foundation has a team of 8 volunteer Board of Directors dedicated to actively fundraising for the Northwest Health Centre in High Level, St. Theresa’s General Hospital in Fort Vermilion, La Crete Continuing Care Centre, the Paddle Prairie Health Centre, and the Rainbow Lake Health Centre.

A key objective of the Northwest Health Foundation is to raise funding for equipment and services that are currently not available locally; making it necessary for residents to travel to major centres. The Foundation can and does fund some of the larger projects of benefit to the entire area as well as smaller projects in the communities in the areas.
